Help available for those who may have a gambling problem

March is recognized as National Problem Gambling Awareness Month.  It’s estimated that 1 percent of the adult population in America may have a gambling problem, but there is help.

In New Mexico, there are many resources available to gamblers and their families. The Responsible Gaming Association of New Mexico is a voluntary collaboration of most of the state’s tribal gaming properties, who fund treatment programs and provide information and resources.

The group holds an annual conference in the month of August for both treatment providers and counselors. The Help Line phone number is 888-696-2440 where specialists provide confidential assistance to callers within New Mexico. Callers will receive free information in addition to referrals to appropriate treatment, support, and resources.
