American Legion is turning 100 years old and there will be a celebration in its honor. The American Legion is a veteran’s service organization that assists veterans and their families through donations, scholarships and additional services.
March 15 marks the American Legion’s centennial and it is also the day back in 1919 when the first American Legion caucus was held by members of the American Expeditionary Force.
In New Mexico, events will kick off at 5 p.m. with a BBQ at American Legion Post 13 in Albuquerque. On March 16 a parade will begin at 10 a.m. in Rio Rancho at the Star Center and will be followed by a memorial and a 6 p.m. banquet at the Rio Rancho Inn.
