Seniors ride for free on the Rail Runner every Wednesday

If you’re a senior or know someone who is, listen up. Seniors ride for free on the Rail Runner on Wednesdays all year. “Seniors Ride Free on Wednesdays on the New Mexico Rail Runner” promotion was so successful in the past that it is now a year-round promotion for 2019. This is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to explore New Mexico’s outstanding local restaurants, museums, and shops, as well as the great outdoors.

The Rio Metro Regional Transit District is the primary regional transit provider for Bernalillo, Sandoval and Valencia counties, offering transit service between municipalities and across county lines including overseeing the maintenance and operations of the New Mexico Rail Runner Express.

How it Works

Every Wednesday during 2019, seniors age 62+ can ride any north or southbound train for free. Just show the onboard ticket agent your valid photo ID (must contain your birth date).

Bus Transfer: If you are planning on making a connection to an ABQ RIDESanta Fe Trails or Rio Metro bus, ask your ticket agent to print out a free bus transfer slip.
