Celtic dance and fun activities at Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival

This May, you’ll want to check out the 31st annual Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival. The family event is in Bernalillo, May 4 and May 5 at 370 Rotary Park.

There will be live music, athletics, dance, food, drink, and vendors at the event. There will also be craft cocktails from Hollow Spirits and craft beer form either Bosque Brewery or Starr Brothers. The gates will open at 9 a.m. for general admission. Adults are $10 while children under 12-years-old are free. Parking is also free. However, pets are not allowed to the event.

The Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival is proud to host many styles of Celtic dance. Scottish Highland Dancing is a celebration of the Scottish spirit. The dances are a spectacular combination of movement, music, and costume. They are generally danced solo, and in competition, the music is typically a tune on the bagpipes. The dances are great fun and anyone, not just with a Scottish heritage, who thrills to the sound of the bagpipes, can join in and learn the dances.

There is also a kids corner and beard competition.
