New Mexico State Parks celebrate National Safe Boating Week

National Safe Boating Week kicks off Saturday, May 18. The week is dedicated to promoting boating and life jacket safety to boaters everywhere.

Saturday at Navajo Lake State Park there be training on how to properly wear a life jacket and the importance of boating safety. There will also be fun paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, bumper boats available for families. To add more fun to the weekend, there will also be a Boating EXPO. Over 15 vendors will have various speed boats, yachts and houseboats on display. Events start at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.

New Mexico State Parks programs provide safe, fun and educational experiences. State parks are often economic drivers for local businesses, towns and cities. Many rural communities rely upon a state park as a major source of economic development.
