ABQ To Do has family friendly events for the weekend

From Gripping plays from of Ireland’s brightest new talents and unique art exhibits to opening day for city pools, there are a lot of events to experience in Albuquerque. First, Poets’ Picnic is a day of art, music, and poetry. There will be dozens of local poets for this unique art exhibit and day of spoken word poetry. Also, five different art exhibits will be on display including fiber arts, photography, sculpture, and calligraphy Live music plus calligraphy demonstrations. This event is May 25, from 10 a.m. to  5 p.m.

Mother Road Theatre Company is putting on a production of “Pumpgirl.” “In this gripping play from one of Ireland’s brightest new talents, playwright Abbie Spallen shapes a startling tale of three lives colliding in rural Ireland. Performances through June 2.

Take a dip in the pool in Bernalillo County because Pools and Splash Pads will be open starting Saturday, May 25 at noon. Other locations include The Rio Grande High School Pool at 2312 Arenal Road SW, Paradise Pool and Waterslide at 5901 Paradise Blvd. NW, Alameda Spray Park located at 9800 Fourth St. NW, Los Padillas Aquatic Center, 2141 Los Padillas Rd. SW. There is also the newly remodeled South Valley Pool and Splash Pad at3912 Isleta Rd. SW, with the largest splash pad in the state.
