Naturally Managing Estrogen Levels through a healthy diet

There are ways to manage estrogen levels by preparing nutritious food. Wise and Well’s Dr. Stevie Springer prepared some food to exemplify his point. According to Chatelain, estrogen balance is needed to control weight loss.

Too much estrogen in men and premenopausal women, a condition called estrogen dominance will lead to unhealthy fat gain, water retention, bloating, and many other issues. As a woman gets older, women age,  testosterone, and progesterone levels begin to decline, leaving a relative excess of estrogen.

Premenopausal women with too much estrogen tend to have more weight at the hips,  both men and menopausal women with an estrogen excess tend to develop an apple shaped figure with more fat stored in the abdominal area.

Dr. Springer says ways to balance estrogen are to include protein and exercise on a regular basis, and avoid eating refined carbs. Managing stress is very important as is avoiding under and overeating. He also suggests drinking green tea. Foods that are high in estrogen include, flax seeds, soy, fruits, nuts, dry fruits, and red wine.
