For the last several years finding more resources to help family caregivers have been a top priority for AARP on both the national and local level.
This is why they worked so hard to create the Caregiver Leave Act, which passed during the last legislative session. The Caregiver Leave Act allows people who already have a sick leave policy with their company to use that time for caregiving.
AARP found that many New Mexicans were struggling with keeping their jobs, taking care of the elderly parents while also taking care of their children. This is why they pushed for the Caregiver Leave Act.
