ABQ To Do: Summerfest fun and Lavender in the Village

There’s always something fun happening in Albuquerque. The ABQ To Do on Friday talked about some of the family-friendly events happening in the metro area this weekend.

Route 66 Summerfest

The Route 66 Summerfest in Nob Hill is Saturday, July 20. The free event features fun for the whole family. Some of the activities include Old Route 66 Car Show, Mother Road Art Market, Kids Zone & Youth Central, food trucks and live entertainment. The event is from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Nob Hill on Central Avenue from Girard Boulevard to Washington Street.

The Cake by Bekah Brunstetter

The Cake, by Bekah Brunstetter is playing at the Aux Dog Theatre from July 19 to August 11. The Cake. was partially inspired by the Colorado Court case where the baker refused to bake a wedding cake for two gay men and the baker won. Playwright Bekah Brunstetter makes a multi-layered cake out of that incident and takes a fresh look at love and marriage in 21st-century red and blue America.

Lavender in the Village

If you love lavender then you’ll feel right at home at the Lavender in the Village Festival. The event will include 110 vendors offering local crafts and lavender products, open-air yoga and a Kid’s Farm Camp.

Booths at the event will offer fine arts and crafts, lavender, home decor and various antiques. The festival’s Kids Farm Camp will educate young lavender lovers and keep them entertained while adults can take part in their own classes and demonstrations.
