A tale of revenge, ‘Blood and Water’ comes to Aux Dog Theatre

The Aux Dog Theatre in Nob Hill is committed to bringing original voices to the stage and giving new and emerging artists the opportunities to be produced. Recently, the play “Blood and Water” was read in Aux Dog’s 1st Stage Scripts series and has been chosen for a full production scheduled for this September 2019.

Playwright and director Andy Mayo explains that the play is revenge story between two brothers. The wife of one of the men is determined to find out why the brothers despise each other and why her husband despises the place he grew up.

A scene from “Blood and Water” was selected for a staged reading at Chicago Dramatists’ Scene Shop Showcase and a public reading of the play was held by Nomad’s Art Collective as Esquina Chicago in May.

Mayo has been Aux Dog Theatre’s 1st Stage Scripts Project Director since 2017 and has also penned the one-man show, “Wish Upon A Star, Intimate Reflections of Walt Disney” which was produced in Albuquerque.

“Blood and Water” comes to the Aux Dog Theatre on September 12 and runs through September 29 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets will be $20 for adults and $18 for seniors.
