Hannah Johnson reciceives Prudential Spirit of Community award

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is the largest youth recognition program in the county. So far, this program has recognized more than 125,000 young people who’ve made a difference throughout their community.

Prudential Spirit of Community Award winner Hannah Johnson stopped by the New Mexico Living show to talk about her project.

Awardee Hannah Johnson chose to do Weather Awareness in in Angel Fire. She purchased a red flag for our local fire dept. to hang while the town was on a fire ban. When she realized locals and vacationers in our area were unaware of the fire ban and having bonfires and grilling out she took action to make flyers to post at local businesses in town. She also shared different links for people to review conditions and warnings with the weather. Once a local wildfire broke out in Ute Park, firefighters from all over were being housed in her school. They were in need of supplies and she set up at a local store with a list of needed items and people in the area purchased and donated.
