New Mexico Governor’s Mansion Foundation, film office hold state ornament contest

Each year the mansion produces the official state ornament to raise funds to preserve and maintain the official state residence.

This year they partnered with the New Mexico Film Office to produce an ornament design contest for young people. The contest employed the theme “New Mexico Films the Great American West” to honor the ranch and film industries of our state. The contest produced over 40 beautiful entries from around the state. Five finalists will be featured at a red carpet gala at the mansion on September 7, where Governor Lujan Grisham will help them hand out almost $5,000 in scholarship funds.

At the September 7 event, there will be food, industry celebs, a red carpet, a pop-up Western theatre and plenty of surprises. Tickets are $100 and may be purchased at
