It’s ground zero for the Lincoln County Wars. A town that has seen much bloodshed and controversy during the tumultuous 19th century in territorial New Mexico. And now, the storied life of Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, John Tunstall and William Brady comes roaring back to life with “Old Lincoln Days.”
The Lincoln Historic Site, located 30 miles east of Carrizozo, welcomes visitors to the small town annually to re-enact the daring escape of Billy the Kid from their infamous courthouse in April of 1881. Food vendors, live music, local artisans and pageantry kick off April 2, running through the 4.
The site’s museum will be open early to welcome visitors and lead them off to the historic trail of the Regulators, who made the town famous during the late 1800’s.
More information for Old Lincoln Days can be found here.
