Putting the best bartenders in the city to the test, the 3rd Annual Distiller’s Guild Festival & Bartending Competition will feature 11 of New Mexico’s top distilleries at one of the biggest parties of the summer. This event is a great way to grab a taste of some of the best spirits the Land of Enchantment has to offer.
Frank Holloway, owner of Hollow Spirits explains that breweries have paved the way for distilleries which are now having a boom in New Mexico. Holloway explains the Hollow Spirits team hopes to display the quality craft spirits coming out of the state in addition to the already popular beer crafters.
Bartender Kicker Gonzales says while it is a competition, local bartenders will also be supporting each other as mixologists will make craft cocktails. Gonzales showcased Hollow Spirits’ New Mexico Sour as a twist on a traditional favorite.
Holloway goes on to explain that distilleries in New Mexico do incorporate their own flavors compared to distilleries in other regions. He says blue corn whiskey is just one example of a New Mexican alcohol twist.
The Distiller’s Guild Festival will be August 18 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency in Albuquerque. VIP tickets are also available and come with parking, VIP seating, a private tasting of 16 winning submissions and entry to the exclusive after-party.
