A fictional story with nonfictional characters, the play “Amadeus” takes the legends of Mozart and Salieri and takes the audience through a wild ride of genius, jealousy, and revenge.
Nicholas Laemmer and Abby Van Gerpen who play Amadeus and Constanze discuss their opening performance and the complex emotions they must navigate while taking on the roles of historical characters.
An established composer Antonio Salieri has given himself to God so that he may achieve his sole ambition to become a great composer. However, the foul-mouthed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart seems to be able to achieve what Salieri cannot as his compositions come naturally and earn him the reputation of a genius.
“Amadeus” runs from August 23 to September 8, 2019, at the Albuquerque Little Theatre. For tickets to “Amadeus” click here.
