Annual walk held to help people diagnosed with ALS

Helping people live with ALS and leaving no stone unturned in the search for a cure is the mission of the ALS Association nationwide. The ALS Association New Mexico Chapter is gearing up for the 20th annual walk to defeat ALS.

La Cueva girl’s varsity soccer team talked about why they are involved in the annual walk. The girls said they were introduced to Patrick Grange and his story at a young age. Grange was a former University of New Mexico soccer player. He was diagnosed with ALS and passed away in 2012.

The walk is on September 22 and starts at Isotopes Park. Walk-in check-in starts at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 10 a.m.

The New Mexico Chapter was founded in 1999 by a small group of individuals touched by ALS to serve the needs of those living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and their families.
