Written back in 1879, the play “A Doll’s House” is known as a work of modern feminism as Nora Helmer slams the door on her husband and children in order to find herself.
Actresses Lauren Dusek Albonico and Abby Van Gelpen visited the set to discuss the play as well as “A Dolls Part 2” which will run in revolving repertory at The Vortex Theatre.
“It helps that it’s more of a contemporary adaptation as well so there’s a lot of creative freedom that are coming with it. It’ll be a different translation than anyone’s ever heard,” said Abby Van Gelpen who plays Nora.
Set 15-years after the original, “A Doll’s House Part 2” will deal with Nora confronting her own duties as well as her marriage with Lauren Dusek Albonico playing the character.
“A Doll’s House” and “A Doll’s House Part 2” will play in rotation for six weeks from October 4 through November 17, 2019. A special performance on Sunday, November 10 will allow patrons to see both shows on the same day with a break in between.
