The jam-packed Retro 66 event Moriarty’s 66th birthday on Route 66 during three-days of fun. The festivities will celebrate the city’s 66th year as an incorporated city on Route 66 and will include several events like the New Mexico Route 66 Film Fest, a rodeo, choir performance, oral history stories, and pumpkin patch.
Retro 66 begins on Friday, September 27, 2019, with food trucks and music at Sierra Blanca Brewery. The fun continues with fireworks after Moriarty’s homecoming game.
Saturday, the 6.6 mile Mother Road Run will kick-off. Not a fan of running? Head over to the Pinto Bean Parade and Festival where there will be games and a pancake breakfast with most events at no charge.
Visit Civic Center from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to hear an oral history on the history of Moriarty on Route 66. The New Mexico Route 66 Film Fest will offer family-friendly entertainment all day at the Performing Arts Center.
Finish up the weekend on Sunday for race and a behind the scenes look at commemorative Air Force’s restored planes.
