Valencia County Animal Shelter reminds animal owners to microchip their pets

Located in Los Lunas, Valencia County Animal Shelter takes in about 100 to 150 dogs and cats every week. They currently have several dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens available for adoption.

Shelter Supervisor Patty Mugan brought in a two-year-old Australian Shepherd mix named Bailey who is currently in search of a forever home. A loveable sweetheart, Bailey came to the shelter with a microchip that was never registered so shelter workers were unable to locate her owner.

Bailey is great on a leash and does well when around other dogs. A canine who loves attention, Bailey is available for adoption for $92 which includes all of the required vet care such as spay, rabies vaccine, microchip, exam, and annual vaccines.

Patty reminds pet owners that it is crucial to register the microchip and always update contact information when phone numbers and addresses change.

Valencia County Animal Shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will be closed this upcoming Saturday, October 12.
