The Blue Portal celebrates 41 years in Old Town

For the last 41-years, the Assistance League of Albuquerque has been working to transform the lives of children and adults through community programs. They aim to ensure that everyone within the community has their essential needs met.

An Assistance League program, The Blue Portal is one of the prime locations to shop for gifts in Old Town and this October, it will be celebrating its 41st birthday with activities throughout the month.

The Blue Portal allows senior crafters and artists to display and show their work to supplement their income. All workers at the Blue Portal are volunteers and no commission is charged to the artists who then receive the full price of the item once it sells.

The Blue Portal now has new hours. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. They will also have extended hours in coordination with Old Town activities.

The Blue Portal will celebrate its birthday on Saturday, October 12 with a raffle and a celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Artists will also be present to visit with patrons.

Raffle tickets are now on sale at Blue Portal for 14 different handcrafted prizes. The drawing will be held during the birthday event at 3 p.m.
