It is the season of scares and what would Halloween be without a haunted house? Albuquerque Fire Rescue and the Albuquerque Police Department are teaming up to host the Heroes Halloween featuring the haunted tower Nightmare on Nine Mile Hill.
This free, all-ages event will allow children to participate in an indoor carnival hosted by local firefighter heroes. Carnival games are created by each of the 22 fire stations in Albuquerque.
You can also listen in during spooky storytime and watch a puppet show performed by the firefighters. Take the kids’ firefighter challenge to learn what to do in a fire emergency using AFR’s blow-up firehouse.
Kids in costume can get their faces painted for free and also get your candy fix during Trunk-or-Treat. The National Guard will be providing a climbing wall.
Guests 14 and older can follow firefighters through frights in the six-story Nightmare on Nine Mile Hill.
The event is free, though canned good donations will be accepted to fill the pantry of Family Services ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Park & Ride locations will be at Legacy Church located at 7201 Central Ave. NW and the old Caravan east parking lot at 7606 Central Ave. NE. There will only be handicapped parking only available at the event, all others are encouraged to use Park & Ride locations.
Heroes Halloween will take place on October 26, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Albuquerque Fire Rescue Training Academy located at 11500 Sunset Gardens SW 87121.
