The gateway to Albuquerque’s historic past, Old Town is where Alburquerque, New Mexico was founded by Governor Francisco Cuervo y Valdez in 1706. It was constructed around a central plaza in the tradition of Old Spain. Today, the historic Old Town district stretches for 10 scenic blocks of brick walkways, porticos, cloistered courtyards, with a central gazebo standing in that very same plaza.
