Bernalillo County 4-H members to compete in national Food Challenge

Food Challenge is a contest similar to ‘Chopped’ where 4-H members are given mystery ingredients that will make a nutritious dish. Members are given 40 minutes to cook a dish and present it in front of a panel of judges.

They must also showcase their knowledge of nutrition facts, food, kitchen safety, and financial literacy. Bernalillo County is the champion Food Challenge team and will be traveling to compete at the national Food Challenge contest next year.

If you’d like to help sponsor the team as they travel to the Texas State Fair next year, contact the extension office at 505-243-1386.

Bernalillo County Cooperative Extension is a service of New Mexico State University. Extension agents help to relay knowledge from the university to the public.

4-H is the nation’s largest youth development organization with over 5,000 4-H members in Bernalillo County. The program teaches youth ages 5-19 a variety of life schools through public based learning.
